You probably won’t see it recommended in Tess Daly's Style Blog, but exfoliation may be set to take a fishy twist.
Yvonne's Hair and Nail Salon in Virginia has followed the lead of salons in Japan, China, Turkey and Croatia by offering punters the opportunity to be de-scabbed by fish pedicure.
Rather than have their foot flakes attended to by a cod wielding a pumice stone, customers dip their feet in tanks filled with garra rufa fish known as ‘Doctor Fish’.
Hundreds of tiddlers tickle away at the toes of customers, leaving even the flakiest feet smooth.
But it isn’t just light abrasion that removes the dead cells – these toothless fish are actually nibbling away the rough skin.
The Doctor Fish only consume dead areas of skin, leaving healthy skin buffed. Fish pedicures have proved successful in the treatment of psoriasis.
Salon owner John Ho estimates 5000 customers have tried the unconventional treatment and charges $50 for 30 minutes with the use of 100 fish. Chips are not included.

Does it hurt?
No! The fish have no teeth so the treatment works by them gently nibbling away at the dry skin which is a lovely experience!
Can I catch any diseases?
No, certainly not! These fish cannot transfer any diseases to humans. You will pre-rinse your feet before the treatment and have your own dedicated foot bath. We employ a state of the art filtration system to ensure utmost safety for our customers and of course for our workers! The water is sterilized 5 times an hour minimum, ensuring the utmost hygiene.
How much does it cost?
Amazingly it costs a lot less than you may think! Treatment starts at just £10.
A hand therapy is also a great way to get your hands in shape prior to having those elegant nails applied or a full manicure. Either way all treatments certainly make you feel good!
